Birds > Netgarden  > Other > Sigma 150-500 OS w/40D
the photos with my signature on them are processed. All crops are unaltered, straight from camera jpg. Did much better with the 20D. (see other album for my conclusion of the 150-500 OS sigma)

Netgarden > A little soft, but colors nice. Baby's down is never quite in focus anyway, most cameras stuggle even finding a focus point on it. No prob with the sigma, but I should have tried it at f8. He was really far away, maybe 80ft. and very small. My 300f4 it wouldn't have barely shown up on the page. This is processed and lightened/contrasted a tad.

Netgarden > Sigma has done well with auto focus. No problems and I don't think I would have gotten this shot with my 300f4.

Netgarden > sigma 150-500 -click on O for original photo full frame. This has been untouched. I am pleasantly surprised with the sigma for closer targets. Great all around long lens, but the 400-500mm is a challenge further away than this. This is shot @500mm, and it does very well with close ups. Vote still out for targets at a distance. Different story of softness.

Netgarden > Finished sigma 150-500 OS photo. I was pleased with this shot because He came from the shade, and it focused in both quickly, probably because he is a larger target than most birds.. Kind of liked the 'Monet' background, the colors were only lightened and background not changed. Bird sharpened.
Netgarden > user error, hoping to get shots down below where he was diving in the shade. May have been ok if stopped down. full size crop
Netgarden > woukld have been better if I had my ISO down. but he was diving in the shade so I wanted to make sure I could get that part too. May be acceptible for an 8x10. Hand held, a monopod would have helped. He was pretty far away and very high in the air. about 80-100ft. This should have been sharper. My canon lens never had a softness like this.
